The Environment
We offer a warm, welcoming, and relaxed environment where we pride ourselves on being a home away from home offering a nurturing environment where the focus is on the individual child interests.
We provide a vast range of resources which link to the children’s changing interests. We also have themed activities to include movie nights, crafts, cooking, sports, and dance. We fully utilise our secure outdoor area and the wider school grounds where children can grow their own fruit and vegetables as well as exploring, experimenting, developing their ideas, and testing their theories.
Our Team
Our qualified, highly experienced, and trained team are passionate and innovative in their approach to their Practice. The activities we create is responsive to individual children and families, and so changes and grows regularly as we meet new children.

Early Years Foundation Stage
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards for learning, development, and care for children from birth to five years. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early year’s providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.
We open at 7.30am where you child will be welcomed by our Playworkers and offered a nutritious choice of breakfast options including toast, cereal, and fruit as well as a drink. We encourage independence and support children in selecting and preparing their breakfast. We regard breakfast time as an important part of the day. Eating represents a social time for children and adults and helps children learn about healthy eating.
We believe passionately that children voices should be heard and that they should lead their own play. Play helps children make sense of the world, we give them time and space to explore these theories alone, alongside friends and with the support of the playworkers around them.
Our well-resourced environment allows for children of all ages and abilities to join in with freely chosen activities that links to their current interests. This can include, role-play, building and construction, arts and crafts, small world including cars and garages as well as dolls and doll houses, physical play both indoors and outdoors including football, table tennis, golf, hockey, and bowling.
When it is time for your child to go to school, we ensure they have all of their belongings and arrive promptly. As we do not have to leave the building the children’s safety is maintained at all times.
We believe that effective partnership with parents is a fundamental part of our immediate and future development. We believe it to be essential ingredient in promoting the welfare, learning and development of the children with whom we work.
We are keen to involve our parents and carers in the life of the club and are committed to developing links with home. There are lots of opportunities for this to take place including newsletters, Dojo updates, regular feedback on your child’s day and invites to attend special days/events. We operate an open-door policy, so you are always welcome to drop in on an ad hoc basis or come and enjoy a ‘Stay and Play’ session. We frequently ask for your opinions by using questionnaires, policy reviews and daily verbal feedback.
Your child will be allocated a key person who will work closely with you, your child and your child’s teacher to ensure we are supporting the learning that has already taken place and enhancing their future learning. We will record progress that we have observed in their learning journey which will include observations, photographs, and your child’s creative creations.

The adult to child ratio within these sessions is 1 adult to every 4 children. We offer a range of learning opportunities that encourage children to learn through play and exploration. We support children to acquire skills to enable them to develop independence and we also provide short, small group opportunities with a focus on building relationships with each other and also developing communication and language skills. Messy and outside play is also heavily featured in the experience we offer, with the opportunity to plant, care and eat the produce they grow.
Potty training requires a great deal of patience, and setbacks often happen. Many children begin potty training between 18 to 24 months of age; however, it’s not uncommon for a child to still be in nappies at three years of age. This is an important stage in your child’s development. We always show kindness, love, support, and respect as your child moves out of nappies. Our practitioners will praise your child when the job is done correctly!
We offer lots of activities to stimulate and challenge the children. Our routine allows lots of time for free play, dressing up and make-believe play, jigsaws, threading, and counting. Art and craft activities are a big part of the day, and also includes baking, sand, and water play. During the daily routine there are also quiet times when the children are encouraged to listen quietly to stories, play musical instruments and join in with singing. The children have opportunity to move around the nursery room to experience all activities and equipment. This also enables them to interact with all ages of children including siblings that may also be in nursery.
By the time your child reaches the age of 3 years they are usually well grounded by knowing their colours, shapes, recognising their name, and also able to hold a pencil. They usually have good social manners and are able to hold small but interesting conversations with grownups as well as children of their own age. Nearly all can follow simple instructions and are now using the toilet and being able to wash and dry hands for themselves.
Your child’s key person will build your child’s Learning Journey over the time they are in our care. This will include:
These capture moments and sequences of your child’s experiences, their interests, and explorations. You can add some of your own from home. Sometimes we will write down exactly what your child says about the photographs, so we know your child’s point of view. This is also an accurate record of language development. Pictures of important people and things from home will help your child feel secure when making transition between home and their early years setting. Please feel free to add any photos to the Learning Journey. You could also write down the names of family members or friends pictured in the photos, and we will then be able to talk with your child about things that are important to them.
These could be photos of models your child has built, photos of their role-play activities, marks they have made or artwork they have created. Sometimes we will add some additional notes to explain what your child did or said.
As your child completes tasks and activities, staff will observe what your child says and does. We will sometimes make notes of our observations to record information about significant moments in your child’s learning and development. We record important milestones in your child’s learning and use these to think about what and how your child is learning, their development and how best to support them further.
Applications should be made through Childcare Choices. More information is available here.
The adult to child ratio within these sessions is 1 adult to every 8 children. By now your child should be ready for more complicated tasks and is more adventurous. Their concentration level is greater, so we recognise this by increasing the daily routine with more challenging activities.
The environment is richly resourced, with materials creatively arranged, and designed to provoke and inspire research and inquiry. We provide continuous provision areas which are well thought out to readily engage the children’s attention. The Practitioners take time to consider what enhancements they may offer your child, which will support and challenge them in the development of their ideas.
